Nelson and Tasman Regions, South Island, New Zealand

Nelson Market, New Zealand Nelson Market, New Zealand

The Nelson and Tasman regions are situated at the top of New Zealand's South Island. They are renowned for their café culture, vineyards, wineries, artisans, crafts, beautiful beaches and three national parks (The Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes).

These regions offer the highest sunshine hours during the summer and skiing in the winter.

Marine reserves offer great diving and the adrenalin junkie can go sky diving or fly a stunt plane. There's horse riding, gliding, sailing, cruising, gentle walks to multi day alpine tramps. You can go bird watching or look out for the New Zealand fur seal. Dolphins and orca will sometimes join you along the coast.

Take your fishing rod and fish for trout in the Motueka River or try heli-fishing. Or just wander down to the coast and catch a fish for supper.

Or perhaps you'd prefer to play a round of golf or taste a fine wine? And don't forget the Nelson Market which sells local arts, crafts and produce on Saturday morning or the Motueka Sunday Market.

Whatever you wish to do - you'll be spoiled for choice in Nelson and Tasman.
